Liechtenstein was represented by two athletes in two sports at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skier Silvan Marxer and bobsledder Gabriel Ospelt.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, where it was also represented by two athletes in two sports - Alpine skier Manuel Hug and cross-country skier Martin Vögeli.

Lebanon was represented by two athletes in one sport at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skiers Jeffrey Zina and Sonia George.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, where it was also represented by two athletes in one sport - Alpine skiers Alexandre Mohbat and Celine Kairouz.


Latvia

Latvia

Latvia ranked 16th in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning one gold and one silver.

Kristers Aparjods triumphed in the men's singles luge event, while Deniss Vasiljevs finished second in the men's singles figure skating competition.

Aparjods has since gone onto be crowned world junior champion and claimed the bronze medal in the same event at the 2019 European Luge Championships for seniors in Oberhof in Germany. 

In all, Latvia had 16 competitors in seven sports.

These figures also applied to Innsbruck 2012, where the country finished 17th in the medal table with one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Ice hockey player Augusts Vasiļonoks won the men's individual skills event, while Riks Rozitis came second in the men's singles luge and Ulla Zirne rounded out the women's singles luge podium.


Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan was represented by just one athlete at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - biathlete Kunduz Abdykadyrova.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, where it was also represented by one athlete - cross-country skier Zafar Shakhmuratov.


Kenya

Kenya

Kenya was represented by just one athlete at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - the country's first international Alpine skier Sabrina Simader.

Despite her best finish being 20th in the women's combined event, Simader would go onto become the first female and Alpine skier to compete for Kenya at the Winter Olympics when she did so at Pyeongchang 2018.


Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan ranked 26th in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning two bronze.

Biathlete Arina Pantova finished third in the women's sprint, while figure skater Elizabet Tursynbayeva rounded out the podium in the women's singles.

Tursynbayeva has since gone onto have considerable success at senior level, taking the bronze medal at the Sapporo 2017 Asian Winter Games and the silver medal at the 2019 Four Continents Championships in Anaheim in the US. 

In all, Kazakhstan had 17 competitors in nine sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the country collected three medals with two of those going to biathlete Galina Vishnevskaya - silver in the women's sprint and bronze in the women's pursuit.

Cross-country skier Sergey Malyshev was the bronze medallist in the men's 10km classical event. 

Kazakhstan was represented by 38 athletes in 10 sports. 


Japan

Japan

Japan ranked 11th in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning two gold and four silver.

The East Asian nation's gold medallists were figure skater Sota Yamamoto in the men's singles and ice hockey player Sena Takenaka in the women's individual skills challenge.

Among the silver medallists was short track speed skater Kazuki Yoshinaga in the men's 500m.

At the following year's Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Yoshinaga was a bronze medallist in the men's 5,000m relay in front of a home crowd.

In all, Japan had 29 competitors in 11 sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the country finished eighth in the medal table with two gold, five silver and nine bronze.

One of the two gold medallists was ski jumper Sara Takanashi in the women's individual event.

She is now the proud owner of five World Championship medals, including mixed team normal hill gold from 2013, and the normal hill individual Olympic bronze medal from Pyeongchang 2018. 

Snowboarder Hikaru Ōe was Japan's other triumphant athlete at Innsbruck 2012, topping the women's halfpipe podium. 

Among the nation's silver medallists was figure skater Shōma Uno, who has since replicated his men's singles runner-up finish at Olympic and world level and won gold at the 2017 Asian Winter Games. 

Overall, Japan was represented by 33 athletes in 13 sports.


Jamaica

Jamaica

Jamaica was represented by just one athlete at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - bobsledder Daniel Mayhew.

Mayhew, who only took up the sport 11 months before competing, continued Jamaica's rich tradition in the sport. 

The bobsleigh competition was held at the Lillehammer Olympic Sliding Centre, the same track on which the Caribbean country famously finished in 14th place in the four-man event at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games.

Mayhew was the first Jamaican to be selected for a Winter YOG after none appeared at Innsbruck 2012.

He finished 13th in the men's monobob.


Italy

Italy

Italy ranked 15th in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning one gold, two silver and six bronze.

The country's solitary gold medal came in the men's doubles luge courtesy of Felix Schwarz and Lukas Gufler.

Schwarz and Gufler also contributed to Italy's third-place finish in the mixed team relay along with Marion Oberhofer and Fabian Malleier, a bronze medallist in the same event at the 2019 European Luge Championships in Oberhof in Germany. 

In all, Italy had 37 competitors in 13 sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the nation finished 12th in the medal table with two gold, two silver and one bronze.

The gold medallists were Florian Gruber and Simon Kainzwaldner in men's doubles luge and Patrick Baumgartner and Alessandro Grande in two-man bobsleigh. 

Overall, Italy was represented by 41 athletes in 15 sports.


Israel

Israel was represented by two athletes in two sports at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skier Itamar Biran and figure skater Mark Gorodnitsky.

The country, which was making its debut at the event, did not win any medals.


Ireland

Ireland was represented by just one athlete at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skier Gary Skinner.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, where it was also represented by one athlete - Alpine skier Florence Bell.

Iran was represented by two athletes in one sport at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skiers Alireza Ahmadpour and Ava Javadi.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, where it was represented by three athletes in two sports - Alpine skiers Nima Baha and Hadis Ahmadi, and cross-country skier Yaghoub Kiashemshaki.


India

India

India was represented by just one athlete at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skier Saurabh Saurabh.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, but its one competitor, Alpine skier Aanchal Thakur, would go onto win India’s first-ever international skiing medal by taking bronze at the Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup in Turkish city Erzurum in January 2018.

Iceland was represented by three athletes in two sports at the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer - Alpine skiers Bjarki Gudjonsson and Holmfridur Fridgeirsdottir, and cross-country skier Dagur Benediktsson.

The country did not win any medals.

There were also no podium finishes for the nation at Innsbruck 2012, where it was also represented by three athletes in two sports - Alpine skiers Jakob Bjarnason and Helga Vilhjalmsdóttir, and cross-country skier Gunnar Birgisson.


Hungary

Hungary

Hungary ranked joint 22nd with New Zealand in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning one silver and one bronze.

Both of the country's medals came in short track speed skating with silver going to Petra Jászapáti in the women's 500m and bronze going to Shaoang Liu in the men's 1,000m.

Already a world and European silver medallist when he competed at Lillehammer 2016, Liu now has an Olympic title in the men's 5,000m relay to his name, from Pyeongchang 2018, as well as European crowns in the same event and the 500m. 

In all, Hungary had 15 competitors in nine sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the country won two silver medals with both coming in the ice hockey individual skills events.

Attila Kovacs was the men's runner-up, while Fanni Gasparics finished second in the women's competition. 

Hungary was represented by nine athletes in six sports.
