Hungary ranked joint 22nd with New Zealand in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning one silver and one bronze.

Both of the country's medals came in short track speed skating with silver going to Petra Jászapáti in the women's 500m and bronze going to Shaoang Liu in the men's 1,000m.

Already a world and European silver medallist when he competed at Lillehammer 2016, Liu now has an Olympic title in the men's 5,000m relay to his name, from Pyeongchang 2018, as well as European crowns in the same event and the 500m. 

In all, Hungary had 15 competitors in nine sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the country won two silver medals with both coming in the ice hockey individual skills events.

Attila Kovacs was the men's runner-up, while Fanni Gasparics finished second in the women's competition. 

Hungary was represented by nine athletes in six sports.
