Latvia ranked 16th in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning one gold and one silver.

Kristers Aparjods triumphed in the men's singles luge event, while Deniss Vasiljevs finished second in the men's singles figure skating competition.

Aparjods has since gone onto be crowned world junior champion and claimed the bronze medal in the same event at the 2019 European Luge Championships for seniors in Oberhof in Germany. 

In all, Latvia had 16 competitors in seven sports.

These figures also applied to Innsbruck 2012, where the country finished 17th in the medal table with one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Ice hockey player Augusts Vasiļonoks won the men's individual skills event, while Riks Rozitis came second in the men's singles luge and Ulla Zirne rounded out the women's singles luge podium.
