Norwest Productions has been named as the official audio supplier for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of this year's Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast.

Part of Australasia’s largest specialist audio provider NW Group, Norwest Productions incorporates Haycom in Australia and Oceania and Spyglass in New Zealand.

NW Group has four offices in Australia, located in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and two in New Zealand, located in Auckland and Wellington.

It is claimed the company is able to offer unparalleled knowledge and expertise in the live event market across Australasia.

The Gold Coast 2018 Opening and Closing Ceremonies are both due to take place at the Carrara Stadium on April 4 and 15 respectively.

"The Opening and Closing Ceremonies are key to the projection of the Gold Coast’s, Queensland’s and Australia’s image to the world," Cameron Murray, Gold Coast 2018 general manager for commercial, was reported as saying by Spice News.

"What people hear, see and feel will be critical to the Games’ success.

"We’re confident that with Norwest’s experience, team, equipment and processes, we will have a world-class experience for athletes, officials, spectators and viewers."

Norwest Productions last supplied audio services to a major event in Australia when Melbourne hosted the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

"We are absolutely focused on working in partnership with the Ceremonies team to deliver a sound experience that all visitors attending Gold Coast 2018 will be in awe of," Chris Kennedy, the director and founder of Norwest Productions, said.

"It’s great to be working in Australia again on these major events, the last time being Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

"Our team, headed up by Andy Marsh, includes highly skilled and experienced technical directors who know and understand the pressures of designing and delivering audio for large-scale events.

"We are thrilled and humbled to be working on the largest event ever held in Queensland."

Norwest Productions commenced business in Sydney in 1993, when Kennedy was the sole director.

It first established a name for itself within the corporate sector, providing audio and vision solutions to high-end corporate and select touring clients.

This culminated in a successful bid for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, propelling the company to the world stage.

Norwest Productions also supplied audio services to the Olympic Games at Athens 2004, Vancouver 2010, London 2012 and Rio 2016.

Last month's ticketing update from Gold Coast 2018 revealed the Opening Ceremony is sold out, although tickets remain available for the Closing Ceremony.
