Ninety athletes are due to attend a training camp which will be run by Australian Taekwondo and Australian Taekwondo Victoria.

The event in Melbourne will last for three days from July 8 and see athletes from five states take part.

Those involved will not be part of the performance pathways programme with the camp having the aim of supporting and developing these athletes.

"The camp will work to promote friendship and cooperation within the taekwondo community and deliver a fun, positive and rewarding training and educational experience for athletes at all levels," Australian Taekwondo said.

"Athletes will be able to engage in practical training and knowledge building sessions delivered as part of the camp.

"Key topics related to athlete development will also be covered, including strength and conditioning, core strength development, injury management and psychological preparation for competition.

"Small round-robin competitions will also be run among the group.

"In addition, athletes will have access to medical and physiotherapy assessments throughout the camp."

Olympic taekwondo athlete Carmen Marton, who won World Championship gold for Australia in the lightweight class in 2013, will attend the camp to give her insight.

She will be joined by sports performance coach and Rio 2016 Olympic taekwondo team psychologist Ian Snape.

Taekwondo Victoria sparring director Alf Dellorso will lead the programme, which is free of charge for athletes.
