China claimed nine out of the 10 gold medals available at the seventh leg of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Diving Grand Prix in Singapore with only Great Britain’s Lois Toulson preventing  a clean sweep.

In men’s competition, Wang An Qi topped the 10 metre platform podium with a total of 478.45 points as compatriot Gao Ang and Sweden’s Jesper Tolvers finished second and third respectively.

Earlier, Wang and Gao had combined successfully to win the 10m synchronised, scoring 376.47 with India’s M. Nasrullah and Luthfi Nico Abdillah taking second, and Egypt’s Youseff Ezzat and Mohab Ishak having to settle for bronze.

Peng Jian Feng registered an extraordinary 515.70 to triumph in the 3m springboard ahead of fellow countryman Zhong Yu Ming and Australia’s Matthew Carter.

In the 3m synchronised, Zhong went one better alongside Li Ya Nan with their score of 389.85 proving too good for silver medallists Emaldedin Fawzy and Mohamed Neuman of Egypt, and third-place finishers Rafi Putra and Ahmad Subekti of India.

In the women’s competition, Wu Chun Ting captured gold in the women’s 3m springboard with 339.75 points, holding off the challenge of Ukraine’s Anastasiia Nedobiga and Australia’s Naomi Gowlett.

Wu had earlier teamed up with Xu Zhi Huan in the 3m synchronised, coming out on top with a 287.10 ahead of Ukrainian pair Nedobiga and Viktoriya Kesar, and Australian duo Gowlett and Georgia Sheehan.

Wang Ying and Wang Han were also an unstoppable double act, beating North Korea’s Choe Hyang and Kim Mi Rae, and Ukraine’s Ganna Krasnokslyk and Vlada Tatsenko with a score of 288.00 in the 10m synchronised.

Wu and Li bagged top honours in the mixed 3m synchronised with Ukraine’s Nedobiga and Oleg Kolodiy coming closest to matching their total of 289.50, followed by Australia’s Gowlett and Kurtis Matthews.

Meanwhile, the mixed 10m synchronised went the way of Wang An Qi and Ying Wang, who scored 312.60 to outdo Australia’s Matthews and Laura Hington, and Egypt’s Ishak and Maha Abdelsalam.

Britain’s Toulson denied China complete domination, totalling 345.25 in the women’s 10m platform to condemn Wang Han to second place with Wang Ying rounding off the podium.

The eighth leg of this year’s FINA Diving Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur from October 23 to 25, while the last meet is due to be held in Gold Coast, Australia, from October 29 to November 1.
