This year's Pan American Sambo Championships have been awarded to the Dominican Republic.

The country's capital city of Santo Domingo is scheduled to play host from September 6 to 7 with both combat and sport sambo tournaments to be contested at the Pabellón Balonmano.

In both the men's and women's events, there are due to be seven sport sambo and seven combat sambo weight categories. 

The Championships will be preceded by two separate seminars for coaches and referees in Boca Chica, which is a municipality of the Santo Domingo province in the Dominican Republic.

The country is establishing itself as a sambo hub in the Americas as it is also due to stage the World Beach Championships from September 9 to 10.

It is the first time that the Dominican Republic has hosted the Pan American Championships since 2019 following a COVID-19-enforced cancellation and hosting from Colombia and Costa Rica.

They are scheduled for the seaside town of Juan Dolio, which lies around 38 miles east of Santo Domingo. 

Prior to the beginning of competition on at the continental championships on September 6, the Pan American Sambo Union is due to have its congress at the Whala! Boca Chica Hotel.

It is the final continental championships scheduled for the year before the World Championships take place in Armenia's capital city Yerevan from November 10 to 12.
