Over 100 athletes have registered for the 10th World Para Taekwondo Championships in Veracruz, Mexico.

Organisers are predicting it to be one of the biggest-ever in the tournament's history.

Iran is among the latest teams to announce a stellar line-up, featuring Paralympic silver medallist and five-time world champion Mehdi Pourrahnama in the men's K44 under-70 kilograms category.

Joining Pourrahnama is reigning world champion Hamed Haghshenas in the men's K44 over-80 kg class and promising women's K44 under-47kg star Maryam Abdollahpour Deroei, who has claimed a title in the last five tournaments she has participated in.

Deroei and Haghshenas recently won gold medals at the 2023 G2 European Para-Taekwondo Championships held on June 30 in Montargis, France.

The country finished second on the overall medals table in Montargis as is expected to finish strongly in Veracruz.

Juan Eduardo Samorano, a Paralympic bronze medallist, will be eyeing top honours for Argentina.

Britain have announced that their selection procedure is underway, giving athletes time until July 31 to complete an expression of interest form.

Scheduled to be held from September 22 to 24, Israel was among the first nations who registered.

Those interested have until September 6 to put their names in the bag.
