Forty-five international referees in taekwondo have been selected to potentially officiate at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Around 100 referees took part in a four-day training and selection event in Mexico City, before they were whittled down to the group which has the chance of appearing in the French capital.

All of the 45 will be evaluated at various tournaments before they are confirmed for a Paris 2024 place.

The event took place under a new slogan for Para-taekwondo - "Para Ti, Para Mi, Para Taekwondo!"

This translates as "For You, For Me, For Taekwondo!"

"We have had an amazing four days of training courses that were full of charisma and spirit," said Chakir Chelbat, the World Taekwondo technical delegate for the Paris 2024 Paralympics and the chairman of the Para Taekwondo Committee.

"The atmosphere was great with a lot of enthusiasm and keenness from the participants.

"My colleagues did a great job, with their best ability and in one of the best conditions.

"Everyone was happy at the end with the learning experience."

Chelbat delivered the training courses alongside Usman Dildar, the vice chairman of the Para Taekwondo Committee.

"World Taekwondo has also sent the result to all the participants, who were already given a participation certificate after the course," Chelbat added.

"The course was delivered in best conditions and facility, all thanks to the Mexico Taekwondo Federation and its staff."

Mexico is due to host this year's World Para Taekwondo Championships in Veracruz, between September 21 and 24.
