FIFA has appealed against a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to overturn the ban imposed on former President of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) Yves Jean-Bart.

The Haitian official was banned by the FIFA Ethics Committee for alleged harassment and sexual abuse against female footballers in November 2020.

Jean-Bart denied the allegations in March 2022 in a panel involving members of the CAS, which led to them overturning the decision due to the inaccurate statements and lack of evidence against the 75-year-old.

FIFA filed an appeal alongside the Swiss Federal Tribunal, denying Jean-Bart from reclaiming his role as FHF President and claiming that the CAS has failed to analyse important pieces of evidence.

"After having carefully analysed the CAS award, FIFA is concerned that this award contains a number of very serious procedural and substantive flaws, including the CAS Panel’s failure to evaluate key pieces of evidence that were offered by FIFA," said FIFA in a statement.

"As a result, FIFA can confirm it has filed an appeal against the CAS award before the Swiss Federal Tribunal, requesting its annulment and referral back to CAS."

Jean-Bart is still attempting to retain his role as his term has not ended yet.

FIFA created a Normalisation Committee that has overseen the FHF since December 2020, while also rejecting the Haitian's claims.

"We refer to the letters of 24 February 2023 that we received from Mr Yves Jean-Bart and his lawyers," said Kenny Jean-Marie, FIFA's chief member associations officer, according to The Guardian.

"In this regard, for all intents and purposes, we would like to point out that the Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on 11 December 2020, based on article 8 paragraph 2 of the FIFA statutes, to appoint a Normalisation Committee for the FHF, thus relieving the Executive Committee of the FHF of its functions."
