Gachet Mollaret headed into the final event of the season at the top of the women’s World Cup standings.

Her advantage has been extended by winning the individual race on home snow in a time of 1hr 22min 20.9sec.

The French skier finished with a cushion of 2:24.9 to her nearest challenger Giulia Murada of Italy.

The podium was completed by another Italian, with Alba De Silvestro finishing in a time of 1:25:14.3.

France’s Emily Harrop, who began the event closest to Gachet Mollaret in the World Cup standings, finished fourth at 1:25:59.2.

The result guaranteed Gachet Mollaret would win the women's individual race globe for the season.

Switzerland’s Remi Bonnet triumphed in the men’s race.

Bonnet completed the event in a time of 1:29:56.5.

France’s William Bon Mardion finished as the runner-up at 31.2 seconds behind.

The podium was completed by Italy’s Davide Magnini in 1:31:16.9, with compatriots Michele Boscacci and Matteo Eydallin following in 1:32:45.4 and 1:32:46.2.

World Cup leader Xavier Gachet of France finished down in sixth place, crossing the line in 1:33:29.5.

Gachet was confirmed as the individual race World Cup winner. 

The men's race saw skiers reach an altitude of 1,812 metres while the women's peaked at 1,600m.

The vertical race is set to follow tomorrow, with a sprint race due to be held on Saturday (April 9).

Flaine, in the Haute-Savoie region, is set to be the sixth event of the 2021-2022 World Cup calendar since it began in Pontedilegno-Tonale in Italy on December 16 last year.
