The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has opened a bidding process to choose an official pool partner for 2022 to 2025.

The chosen sponsor will be required to pay a financial contribution to FINA as well as to provide swimming pools for use at the Federation's key Championships.

"FINA’s policy is to create spectacular facilities in exciting venues for our World Championships," said FINA President Husain Al-Musallam.

"The pool provider is a fundamental partner to that spectacular strategy and, in the most transparent way, we are now initiating the tender process for the period 2022-2025.

"I am sure we will receive excellent proposals.

"I am also certain that after a thorough evaluation and final decision, FINA will continue providing excellent conditions for all our athletes."

Since 2009, Italian company Myrtha Pools has been FINA's official pool partner.

Potential bidders have until August 20 to file any submissions and the selection period is due to occur from September 29 to October 29.

Earlier this year, FINA came under fire for not approving the use of the Soul Cap, a brand of swimming caps designed for natural black hair at the Olympic Games.

FINA said the caps did not fit "the natural form of the head" and to its best knowledge, "the athletes competing at the international events never used, neither require caps of such size and configuration",

After receiving criticism about racism, FINA announced that it would review its decision.
