Doctor Alcala, deputy director of health for COVID-19 affairs in Curaçao, permitted the team to return to play but ordered the six individuals to remain isolated.

The Caribbean Baseball Cup was initially set to be held in April, but the event was moved due to a surge of COVID-19 cases.

This year's tournament is dedicated to the memory of the late President of the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) Higinio Vélez Carrión, who died in mid-May at the age of 74 after complications related to COVID-19.

He had been in head of the FCB since 2008 until his death.
