Ramil Guliyev and Nadine Visser will use tomorrow's Gloria Cup athletics event here as a final warm-up for the International Association of Athletics Federations World Athletics Championships in Doha.

Home favourite and reigning 200 metres world champion Guliyev uses the facilities here at Gloria Sports Arena as a home base throughout the season and is expected to put on a show.

Visser, from the Netherlands, won European indoor gold in the 60m hurdles earlier this year and will line up in the women's 100m hurdles event.

The athletics meet will bring to a close the 2019 Gloria Cup competition, following Serbia's victory in the volleyball tournament in August and CSKA Moscow's basketball glory today.

Ten disciplines will be contested, five for men and five for women.

Guliyev will be put through his paces in the 200m by three-time European 100m champion Churandy Martina of the Netherlands and compatriot Batuhan Altinas, the 2019 European junior bronze medallist.

Visser will also have a tough race tomorrow, with athlete and sports journalist Annimari Korte of Finland expected to be among the medals.

With the Turkish Athletics Federation using the competition at Gloria Sports Arena as a final preparation camp for the World Championships in Doha, there is a high representation of Turkish athletes.

The Championships in Doha begin on September 27, and all of the men's finals have at least two Turkish participants.

The men's events include the 200m, 400m, 400m hurdles, triple jump and javelin.

The women's javelin will start proceedings, before the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump and 100m finals take place.
