United States' Heaven Garcia gained revenge against Kazakhstan’s Zhansaya Abdraimova to reach the final of the women’s 51 kilogram flyweight competition at the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women's and Men's Youth World Championships in Budapest.

The pair had previously met at the Youth Women's World Championships in Guwahati last year, with Abdraimova claiming victory on that occasion.

Their budding rivalry resumed at the Duma Arena in Hungary's capital city, with a tight contest following.

Garcia would ultimately be awarded the victory at the end of the fight via a split decision verdict.

Three judges deemed the American to be the victor, while the other two awarded Abdraimova the contest.

Garcia’s reward will be a gold medal match against India’s Anamika, who was a unanimous 5-0 winner over Thailand’s Kittiya Nampai.

Home hopes were dashed in the women’s 64kg light welterweight division as Veronika Villas suffered a 4-1 defeat to India’s Manisha.

England’s Gemma Richardson will face Manisha in the final, after she clinched a unanimous 5-0 success against Russia’s Lanna Maliuganova.

Hungary will have one last chance of gold in Budapest, with Krisztofer Orban Adrian reaching the men’s 60kg lightweight final.

He achieved a 5-0 success against Egypt’s Marawan Mamdouh Mohamed Madboly.

Thailand's Atichai Phoemsap will provide the opposition in the final, after his 3-2 split decision success against India's Ankit.

Croatia's Nikolina Cacic, a 57kg featherweight boxer and Brazil's lightweight fighter Rebeca Santos secured wins today.

The victories ensured their countries of maiden medals in women's boxing at the Youth World Championships.

Focus will now switch to finals.

Kazakhstan are assured 11 medals, followed closely by the Indian squad with 10.

Thailand's squad have guaranteed themselves seven medals.
