England's Caroline Dubois secured a semi-final spot at the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women's and Men's Youth World Championships in Budapest.

The two-time EUBC European women’s junior lightweight champion and this year’s European Youth Championships gold medallist hoped to continue her World Championship run at the Duma Arena.

Germany’s Stefanie von Berge provided her latest challenge, with the contest proving a close one in Hungary’s capital city.

Dubois would advance to the last four via a split decision verdict, with four of the five judges giving her the decision, while the other judge considered von Berge the winner.

Brazil’s Rebeca Santos also progressed in the women’s 60 kilogram division, as she was awarded a unanimous points victory over Finland’s Vilma Vitanen.

There were also unanimous wins for Russia’s Nune Asatrian and India’s Jony over Thailand’s Porntip Buapa and China’s Chen Yibing respectively.

Home hopes faded in the men’s over-91kg super heavyweight competition, as Koppany Feher suffered defeat.

The Hungarian boxer suffered a 5-0 loss to Kazakhstan’s Damir Toibay to miss out on securing a medal in front of a local crowd.

Russia’s Aleksei Dronov was among the other victors in the weight division, as he dominated his fight against Iran's Ali Sepehr.

Ukraine’s Kyrylo Stoianchev clinched a 5-0 success against Poland’s Oskar Kopera to reach the semi-finals, while Egypt’s Ahmed Elsawy Awad Elbaz completed the semi-final line-up with a 3-2 split decision win over Canada’s Tethuach Chuol.

The Championships are set to continue tomorrow.
