Wicketkeeper-batsman Wandile Makwetu restored hope for South Africa with 60 runs from 62 balls but his side could still only finish on 189-9 in their 50 overs.

Right-arm quick bowler Muhammad Musa was the star bowler for Pakistan with 3-29 runs after bowling 44 dot balls in his 10-over spell.
