Australia reached the quarter-finals of the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup today after a magical bowling display from Lloyd Pope routed England in New Zealand.

England looked on course to win the quarter-final clash at Queenstown's John Davies Oval as they bowled out their opponents for just 127.

Skipper Jason Sangha scored 58 for Australia but their total looked immensely reachable.

England seemed to be cruising to victory as they reached 47-0 but a disastrous collapse saw them lose all of their wickets for 49 runs as they were bowled out for just 96.

Pope, a leg spinner, finished with remarkable figures of 8-35 as Australia won an incredible match by 31 runs.

It meant Tom Banton's 58 for England was in vain as his side slumped to a dramatic defeat.

Australia will play India or Bangladesh in the semi-finals with England dropping into the play-off series to decide who finishes fifth to eighth.

Two quarter-finals were also played in the plate competition for sides who finished in the bottom two during the group phase.

Sri Lanka demolished Kenya by 311 runs after posting 419-4 and bowling out the African side for 108.

West Indies then edged Ireland by three wickets, chasing down their total of 278-8 after 48.2 overs.
