Nathan McSweeney and Jason Ralston produced a batting and bowling masterclass as Australia thrashed Papua New Guinea today at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand today.

McSweeney hit a brutal 156 as Australia hit a huge 370 off their 50 overs at Lincoln Green.

Jason Ralston then took the best figures ever seen at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup as he tore through the opposition side with seven for 15 from just 6.5 overs.

Papua New Guinea were eventually dismissed for 59 from 24.5 overs in a 311 run defeat.

India also proved far too strong for Zimbabwe in today's other Group B encounter at the Bay Oval on Mount Maunganui.

Zimbabwe were bowled out for 154 in 48.1 overs after losing their final seven wickets for just 44 runs.

Anukul Roy took four for 20 before India passed the Zimbabwean score without losing a single wicket.

Shubman Gill smashed an unbeaten 90 from 59 balls as India reached their target with 28.2 overs to spare.

It meant India and Australia each progress to the quarter-finals.

Today's other clash in Group D between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Cobham Oval in Whangarei proved a closer affair.

Pakistan restricted their opponents to 188 off 48.2 overs.

They lost wickets regularly in response, but were always ahead of the run rate and eventually won by three wickets after 43.3 overs.

Ali Zaryab Asif top scored with 59.

Pakistan duly progress to the quarter-finals to join Afghanistan, who are due to play Ireland at the Cobham Oval in Whangarei tomorrow.

Canada will also face England tomorrow at the John Davies Oval in Queenstown while there are two Group A matches.

Kenya play West Indies at Lincoln Green before New Zealand meet South Africa at the Bay Oval.
