Coates Hire have been confirmed as the official equipment hire supplier for next year's Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast and are set to provide over 250 portable buildings for the multi-sport event.

They will be used during Gold Coast 2018 for general administration, as well as specialist tasks such as ticketing and IT server rooms.

Housing the media for commentary, broadcast production and newsroom work will also be used.

A total 98 buildings will be built locally in Brisbane, with the company claiming the supply of the portable buildings would only be achieved by an organisation of their size.

"With 130 years of experience, they are a great addition to the Gold Coast 2018 sponsor family," Cameron Murray, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games general manager for commercial, said.

"They bring a high degree of capability to the table which provides Gold Coast 2018 with certainty to deliver ahead of the Games commencing.

"It is great to see sponsors who were a part of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games continuing to support the Commonwealth Games movement.

"Coates Hire know what it takes to deliver major events and I look forward to working with them to stage a successful Gold Coast 2018."

Coates Hire are considered Australia’s largest equipment hire company and have a total of 39 branches operating around the state of Queensland, employing around 380 people.

Richard Greenwood, Coates Hire’s acting executive general manager, claimed they are a good fit for the Commonwealth Games.

He claimed this is due to their track record of safety, reliability, project support and investment in quality equipment.

"We are proud to partner with Gold Coast 2018 as the official equipment hire supplier," said Greenwood.

"We look forward to contributing to the comfort, productivity and safety of everyone working on-venue to deliver the Games."

The company will begin installing the portable buildings at the end of the year.

The completion of the installations is scheduled to be in March.
