A final list of sports and disciplines set to feature at the inaugural Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) World Beach Games in San Diego in 2017 is expected to lead discussions at the organisation's Executive Council and Working Group meetings beginning here tomorrow.

The complete list of 20 sports is then due to be confirmed following further meetings with International Federations at the SportAccord Convention in this Swiss city later this month.

A meeting of the ANOC Working Group, chaired by Hong Kong's Timothy Fok, will take place tomorrow before discussions at the Executive Council meeting on Monday (April 4).

There will be no representatives from San Diego here but a report will be given by ANOC secretary general Gunilla Lindberg, who has just returned from a visit to the city in California.

Meetings have already been held with two thirds of the International Federations set to appear in the event, Lindberg told insidethegames today, with others to be held during the SportAccord Convention.

San Diego was awarded the Games during last year's ANOC General Assembly in Washington D.C, where it was proposed that up to 22 sports would appear.

These included Esports, as well as four currently battling for Tokyo 2020 Olympic inclusion - karate, skateboarding, surfing and wall climbing.

Others consisted of basketball 3x3, BMX, flying disc, jet ski, marathon swimming, stand-up-paddle racing, triathlon, wakeboarding, water polo, windsurfing and beach versions of athletics, handball, tennis, badminton, volleyball and wrestling.

Disciplines within sports which feature on the Olympic programme are not permitted, with adapting events to the new format therefore a major part of discussions.

Other sports still hoping to be added to the programme include rowing and taekwondo, which is holding a first World Beach Championships in Bali later this year in order to showcase itself.

It comes at the first ANOC Executive Council meeting here in Lausanne since the new headquarters building was officially opened following a meeting last July.

Other issues on the agenda are set to involve National Olympic Committee preparations for this year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, as well as preparations for the ANOC General Assembly in Doha.

A meeting of the ANOC International Relations Commission is also due to take place tomorrow.
