Brazil claimed both the 100 metres hurdles titles on the second day of competition at the International School Sport Federation (ISF) U15 Gymnasiade 2023 here.

Lucas de Almeida Rosa stormed to victory in 12.73sec among boys, followed by Weidong Li of China in second at 12.99.

The bronze medal also went to the hosts, thanks to Julio Cesar Garcia de Araujo clocking 13.24.

Among girls, Beatriz Camargo Monteiro Silva was the star for Brazil as she crossed the line first in 13.81.

Chien Hsiao of Chinese Taipei and Yihui He of China got silver and bronze with timings of 14.10 and 14.19, respectively.

Throwing disciplines fetched two golds for China today with Shao Hongxuan claiming shot put gold with an effort of 17.64 metres among boys.

Second and third place went to Brazil courtesy of Gabriel Benicios Tenorio Leite and Pietro Pereira Silva.

Leite got silver with a throw of 16.79m while compatriot Silva managed bronze after an effort of 14.37m.

In the girls’ discus throw final, Dai Shuxin helped China to the title by throwing 46.71 metres as her compatriot Chen Xinyao settled for silver in 46.40m.

The last podium spot went to Marina Hadjicosta of Cyprus on 45.97m.

Namibia triumphed in the girls’ high jump after Alexandra Veronique Scheepers cleared 1.67metres.

The hosts had Isadora Levinsk to thank for adding to the medals tally when she produced 1.59m for silver.

Moroccan Wissal Bouhadou was the bronze medallist after clearing 1.56m.

The boys’ long jump title belonged to Lin Chun-Yo of Chinese Taipei with a leap of 7.01 metres.

China and Portugal grabbed silver and bronze after efforts of 6.79 and 6.44 from Guohao Chen and Wagner Castro, respectively.

Saudi Arabia and Mexico were the best nations in the 400m races today.

Meshhal Hazazi got the boys’ title after clocking 50.67 to beat compatriot Musaad Alsubaie and Yujie Shang of China.

Alsubaie crossed the line in 50.91 for the silver medal while Yujie got bronze in 51.03.

Among girls, Kenya Maturana Zaga was the fastest, managing 57.11 on the clock.

Silver went to Celeste Maria Molina of Argentina in 57.23 and Junyao Liu of China got bronze in 57.85.
