Bahrain to host International and Arab Para-Badminton Championships in May 2024

The Kingdom of Bahrain will achieve a historic milestone by becoming the first Arab country to host the prestigious Arab Para-Badminton Championship from 16-19 May 2024 and the Para-Badminton Championship from 20-26 May 2024, as announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain will host, for the first time in the Arab world, the Arab Para-Badminton Championship in its inaugural edition from 16-19 May, and the 2024 International Para-Badminton Championship for the third time from 20-26 May.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa stressed that the organization of these championships is being carried out in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian and Youth Affairs, and in support of the policies and objectives of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

He also highlighted the role of the Championship in promoting the culture of Paralympic sport and the integration of persons with disabilities into society, and praised the significant efforts made by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, in developing Paralympic sport in his country.

Bahrain's commitment to Paralympic sport not only transcends sporting boundaries, but also strategically aligns with its economic goals. The President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee noted that hosting the upcoming Para Badminton Championships will not only promote inclusion and sporting excellence, but will also boost sports tourism, supporting the Kingdom's ambitious tourism strategy for 2022-2026.

This initiative will not only strengthen Bahrain's position as a world-class sporting destination, but will also contribute significantly to the country's economic growth and sustainable development.

He added that hosting these championships is an important aspect of supporting the national economy and Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.

In addition, he noted that hosting these championships encourages parents to involve their children in sports activities and prepares national teams to organize more important tournaments in the Kingdom.

He praised the readiness of theBahrain Paralympic Committee in terms of administrative and technical staff to achieve the desired goals and aspirations in all aspects and to raise the technical level of the national team players and their interaction with internationally ranked players.

Bahrain is considered an excellent destination for the organization of international sports tournaments in various games and sports. The organization of the International Para-Badminton Championship reflects this prestigious status and highlights Bahrain's commitment to promoting sports for all segments of society.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is expected to welcome Para-Badminton champions from around the world to this international championship, especially as this championship is considered an important preparation for the Paralympic Games in Paris, which will be held from 28 August to 8 September 2024.
