The city of Cochabamba was the venue for the Bolivian Junior Sambo Championship. The competition, which took place on 13 April, brought together representatives from five of the country's departments and was a qualifier for teams to take part in international competitions.

The president of the Bolivian Sambo Federation, Cesar Castro, said: "With this tournament, we have set ourselves the goal of analysing the professional skills of young athletes and subsequently selecting the Bolivian junior team that will represent the country at the Pan American Championship."

According to the organising committee, more than 80 athletes from five departments of Bolivia - La Paz, Santa Cruz, Potosi, Beni and Cochabamba - participated in the championship.

"During the tournament, bouts were also organised between adult athletes. This helped us to pre-qualify the national team for international competitions," added Castro.
