Ghana's Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif met with newly elected Ghana Athletics President Bawa Fuseini as the country prepares to host the rearranged African Games next year.

Fuseini, the governing body's former secretary general, was voted in last month after defeating opponents Edem Tamakloe and Sylvester Sedonkor.

Charles Osei Assibey, Zachariah Suleman Yeboah, Andrew Agbo Kitcher and Comfort Selby-Agyapong were all elected as vice presidents.

Ussif's meeting came with Ghana Athletics making "serious preparations" for next year's Games.

Ghana was due to host the African Games this year but its extreme debt and a dispute over marketing rights pushed the multi-sport event into 2024.

Dates of March 8 to 23 have been set.

Twenty-four sports are on the programme, with most of them due to be held at the Borteyman Sports Complex.

Athletics is planned for the University of Ghana Stadium.
