A customs clearance centre dedicated for this year's Asian Games has been set up at the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.

The service counter has put in place with little over two months before the Games are due to open in the Chinese city.

Hangzhou 2022 said that the centre would ensure the "efficient and smooth customs clearance of various imported goods" for the continental multi-sport event.

"For Asian Games-related goods that enter or leave China at any port and are transported by air, sea or land, the customs clearance procedures can be handled at these Asian Games counters," a statement from Hangzhou 2022 read.

The centre is set to provide a 24-hour customs clearance service for Hangzhou 2022 as well as officering professional support and expert guidance.

More than 10,000 athletes from 45 countries are set to participate at the Asian Games, scheduled to be held from September 23 to October 8.

A total of 483 medal events in 40 sports representing 61 disciplines are set to take place during the Games.

Hangzhou 2022 is set to mark the third time China has held the Asian Games, although this edition was delayed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
