Britain and the United States made it three wins from three at the Women’s Softball World Cup after another jam-packed day of Group A action in Ireland.

It was not straight forward for defending champions the US who came up against a strong Australian side at the Balbriggan All Weather Field in Finegal, Dublin.

Both teams could not be separated after seven innings, resulting in the first tiebreaker of the tournament.

US were more clinical at their turn to bat as Hannah Flippen became the hero with a single to left field.

Britain joined the US on three successive victories with an impressive win over hosts Ireland.

After tidy work from both teams in the first two innings, Britain went on the attack in the third.

Sydney Brown charged home from third on Kendyl Scott's punch to left field only to be called out following a superb throw Niamh Dougherty.

Despite the blow, Tia Warsop, Kendyl Scott, Georgina Corrick, Morgan Elisabeth Salmon, Alan Snow, Jessica Chan and Katie Burge all scored to give Britain an unassailable 7-0 lead.

Britain completed the triumphed in the fifth innings courtesy of the run ahead rule.

Prior to losing to the US, Australia started the day with a 10-0 thrashing of Botswana, who are the lowest ranked team at the World Cup.

Botswana also lost by the same scoreline to Chinese Taipei.

Yi-Ting Yang opened the scoring for Chinese Taipei in the first inning, followed by Feng-Chen Lin, Hsuan Liu and Chia-Yi Chen crossing home plate.

The pitching change by Botswana with Wangu Gondo did the trick and kept it to 4-0 to Chinese Taipei.

Chia-Yun Chang scored in the start of the second on the back of a Lin triple to centre field before the latter scored again on a Liu sacrifice fly to stretch the lead to 6-0.

Lin Chih-Ying and Chia-Hui Ko both scored before Chang beat Bonolo Molefe in left field to score an inside the park homer down the left field line.

She nearly caught Yi-Hsuan Su round the bases as they both scored to make it 10-0 after three.

Competition is due to continue tomorrow with Britain and the US both scheduled to play two matches while Australia, Botswana, Ireland and Chinese Taipei are also set to be in action again.
