Anton Källberg of Sweden and Japan's Miwa Harimoto claimed the men's and women's singles titles, respectively, at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender event in Tunis.

Källberg cruised to the gold medal in the Salle Omnisport de Radès as he downed Germany's Patrick Franziska 4-1.

He burst into a commanding lead before Franziska pulled one back but finished the job soon after for a 17-15, 11-7, 14-12, 10-12, 11-9 scoreline.

The result marked a second win for the Swede in Tunis after he defeated China's Dang Qiu 4-0 two years ago.

"It was a very close match - you can see that from the long sets," Källberg said.

"It was a mentally sharp game, it was tough to not give him chances and be the one to attack and put pressure on the ball.

"He did well.

"I was pretty confident, I think that was the key to my success."

Japan's 15-year-old prodigy Harimoto clinched her first title of the WTT Series with a 4-2 defeat over Shin Yu-bin of South Korea.

She narrowly missed out on the trophy last year but made a barnstorming start on her way to an 11-8, 11-5, 11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 11-8 win.

It is also Harimoto's second women's singles title of the year following a successful campaign at the Antalya feeder competition.

South Koreans Jang Woo-jin and Parl Gang-hyeon were triumphant in the men's doubles event while Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee of India won the women's doubles gold.

Lin Yun-Ju and Chen Szu-Yu then prevailed for Chinese Taipei in the mixed doubles final.
