World Taekwondo has launched its search for candidates with a "deep understanding of the issues and challenges" facing the sport to apply for positions on its committees.

The application process has been officially opened as the worldwide governing body looks for officials that can "help shape the future of the sport".

Coaches, development, education, finances, games, integrity, referee and medical are among the committees that are seeking applicants.

The other committees that are open for applications are in sustainability, poomsae, Para taekwondo and Para taekwondo classification.

World Taekwondo said it was searching for highly-qualified candidates from both within and outside the taekwondo community to join its permanent committees.

"WT is seeking individuals with specialised skills to help navigate the increasingly complex international environment and is particularly interested in candidates who can foster gender balance, athlete representation, and diverse and innovative decision-making practices," a statement from World Taekwondo read.

"The permanent committees play a crucial role in shaping the policies and strategies of WT.

"With the global reach and influence of the sport, the committees require individuals who have a deep understanding of the issues and challenges facing taekwondo today, as well as the ability to offer creative solutions.

"WT recognises the importance of finding exceptional candidates who can help shape the future of the sport."

A deadline of May 1 has been set for the submission of application forms.
