Arbabi is the President of the Iran Taekwondo Federation's Referee Committee, while Bagheri was selected after earning best referee award at the 2022 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series.

The 2023 World Championships will be taking place in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, from May 29 to June 4.

In last year's event in Guadalajara, Mexico, the host nation topped the medals table, earning three golds, one silver and two bronzes.

It was the first World Championships since 2019 as the 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
