Egypt won both of its games today at the Four-a-Side Wheelchair Handball World Championship ©IHF

Egypt won both of its games on the opening day of the inaugural International Handball Federation (IHF) Four-a-Side Wheelchair Handball World Championship.

At the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall, hosts Egypt started with a 2-0 win over India before following it up with a same scoreline victory against Slovenia.

Egypt dominated with a 11-1 win in the fist set against India thanks to a star performance from Magdy Talaat Abdo Abbas.

That was followed by another 5-1 win in the second set to seal the deal.

Their second games saw them take the first set 9-5 before a closely fought 6-5 win in the second set.

Brazil also won both their games on the first day.

The South Americans beat Slovenia 7-3, 7-2 before humbling the Netherlands 9-3, 11-4 to complete another 2-0 victory.  

However, the Dutch won their second game of the day against Chile.

William Van Den Ende ensured the Europeans got the first set 5-3 before recording a 6-4 in the second set.

Chile also recovered with a 2-0 win over India.

After a tight 3-2 win in the first set, Alexis Caballero inspired them to a 6-5 win in the second.
