Prague is set to stage the next edition of the Para Dance Sport European Championships from October 28 to 30 this year.

The Czech capital has been confirmed as host by World Para Dance Sport, with the Clarion Congress Hotel chosen as the venue.

It is set to be the first edition of the European Championships since Lomianki 2018 in Poland after the 2020 event scheduled for Genoa was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are delighted to see Prague and Czech Republic being awarded as hosts of the next European Championships," said Camila Rodrigues, World Para Dance Sport manager.

"We have seen the continuous development of the sport in the country which hosted its first international competition with great success last year.

"Prague is a city that breathes dance and we look forward to a historical event in October."

Standard, Latin and single conventional dance disciplines are on the sporting programme to determine the continent's best athletes.

There will also be junior boys' and girls' divisions.

Prague first hosted an official Para dance sport competition in August last year with the two-day Prague International Competition.

"We are proud and excited to announce the organisation of the Prague 2022 Para Dance Sport European Championships to be held in October," said the Prague 2022 Organising Committee.

"We look forward to welcoming all of the European Para dance athletes to our lovely city and sharing such an extraordinary event with the Clarion Congress Hotel."

Lomianki 2018 saw 124 athletes from 16 countries in action, a number that is expected to increase at Prague 2022.

Ukraine topped the medals table with 13 golds out of a possible 19 in Lomianki.
