Daisy Kudre Schnyder won a second gold medal of the World Ski Orienteering Championships in Keminmaa, triumphing in the women's middle-distance contest.

The Estonian was more than a minute clear of her closest rival, Sweden's Linda Lindkvist, completing the course of 10.1 kilometres in 36min 43sec.

Kudre Schnyder also had the best time through each of the three checkpoints preceding the finish line, underscoring her dominance.

Lindkvist stopped the clock at 37:54.

Evelina Wickbom was third, Anna Magdalena Olsson fourth and Frida Sandberg fifth as Swedes occupied the rest of the top five.

Wickbom bronze medal-winning time was 38:11.

Kudre Schnyder won the sprint earlier this week at the Finnish venue, and now has four world titles to her name.

The men's middle-distance contest was far tighter, with Bulgarian Stanimir Belomazhev claiming victory by only two second.

Over a bigger route - measuring 12.7km - Belomazhev finished in 40:45.

That narrowly beat the 40:47 of Rasmus Wickbom.

Sweden's Wickbom had gone before Belomazhev, so the Bugarian knew what time he had to beat.

Tuomas Kotro of Finland was third, in 41:26, for a third medal of the event.

The World Ski Orienteering Championships conclude tomorrow with the sprint relay.
