Bucharest Metropolitan Circus in Romania is the venue for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Under-23 World Cup that will be held from October 5 to 9 2022.

The city also hosted the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup in 2018.

"Romania has been such a pioneer and an amazing host to FIBA 3x3 competitions," FIBA secretary general Andreas Zagklis said.

"FIBA is delighted to bring the 3x3 World Cup for the first time in the country.

"The people of Bucharest and the fans worldwide will get a glimpse of 3x3's bright future."

The Romanian Basketball Federation President Carmen Tocala said that it was an honour that FIBA has trusted Romania to host the event.

The men's team won the first edition of the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup in 2014 while the women finished with a silver medal in 2016.

Russia are the defending FIBA 3x3 world champions among men while Japan bagged the women's edition.

The next edition of the 3x3 FIBA World Cup will be hosted in Lublin in Poland in 2023, with exact dates to be confirmed.
