The International University Sports Federation (FISU) Chengdu 2021 Summer World University Games organisers have spoke highly of its selected volunteers for the event, noting those in the areas of language, flag-raising and the Opening Ceremony.

"Language volunteers are an integral part of the organising team," said an officer from the Chengdu 2021 Executive Committee.

"They are showing the visitors the spirit and responsibility of China's youths while responsible for communication and cultural exchange.

"In addition, the language volunteers are expected to have a knowledge of sports, the city's history and culture, and Sichuan cuisine.

"They are supposed to be a bridge between Chengdu and foreign visitors, so that the world can understand and fall in love with Chengdu through this global event."
