Emmanuel succeeds Fortuna Belrose as SLOC President, after she opted not to stand for re-election.

The new President's term is set to run until 2025.

Emmanuel's bid received support from Dominic Johnson, who represented Saint Lucia at three Olympic Games, and he has gained a reputation for speaking out on controversial issues at the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly.

At October's key gathering of National Olympic Committees from across the world in Crete, Emmanuel called on ANOC to address its leadership situation regarding Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

Fijian Robin Mitchell has served as ANOC's Acting President since the Kuwaiti official stepped aside in 2018 after being charged with forgery.

Sheikh Ahmad was sentenced to almost 14 months in jail by a Swiss court in September.

George Charlemange has been elected as first vice-president of the SLOC, with Trevor Hunte succeeding him as second vice-president.

Taking over from Emmanuel as secretary general will be Theodore Matthews, with Shayne Felicien becoming assistant secretary general.

Joyce Huxley has been re-elected as SLOC treasurer.

Saint Lucia Boxing Association President David Christopher was re-elected as a National Federation representative on the Executive Board.

He will be joined by new representatives in Lily Bergasse, Cornelius Breen and Marcia Dudley.

Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees President Brian Lewis and the Executive Committee of the regional body congratulated the SLOC on successfully holding its elections and Extraordinary General Assembly.

Saint Lucia first featured at the Olympic Games at Atlanta 1996, but has yet to win a medal.

Levern Spencer won the country's first Pan American Games gold medal in the women's high jump at Toronto 2015.
