Fortuna Belrose has been re-elected as President of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC).

It means that she will now serve a new four-year term in charge of the Caribbean country's governing body after running unopposed for the role.

Secretary general Alfred Emmanuel has also returned to his position for a new term after facing no challengers.

Thirteen people will sit on the SLOC's ruling Committee.

In what represents a good mix of gender balance, seven will be men and six will be women.

In September, Belrose said that plans have already been put into place to work closely with the country's athletes in the build-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Five athletes represented the country at the Rio 2016 Olympics, including two in the women's high jump competition.

Levern Spencer, the country's flagbearer at the past three Olympics, finished in sixth place with her team-mate Jeanelle Scheper ending 25th.

Sailor Stephanie Devaux-Lovell finished 29th in the women's laser radial competition, while swimmer Jordan Augier and men's 100 metre sprinter Jahvid Best failed to advance from their heats.

SLOC announced the purchase of its new headquarters in La Clery in February last year.
