Manufacturing company Liebherr has been confirmed as a brand partner of this month’s World Table Tennis Championships.

The deal, announced by the World Table Tennis (WTT) - the commercial entity of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) - continues Liebherr’s long association with the flagship event having first partnered in 2003.

Liebherr has previously been title sponsor of many top-tier ITTF tournaments, including the World Championships in German city Düsseldorf in 2017, Halmstad in Sweden in 2018 and Hungarian capital Budapest in 2019.

Last year’s World Table Tennis Championships was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Houston in the United States is scheduled to stage this year’s event from November 23 to 29.

It will be the first American city to host the competition, which is due to be held at the George R Brown Convention Center.

The men’s and women’s singles events are set to feature 128 players in singles, while 64 pairs are due to line up in the doubles competitions.

"We are very proud of our long-term relationship with Liebherr, including the strength in brand partnership created over many years at multiple World Championships," said Jonny Cowan, Europe general manager for WTT.

"We look forward to taking the event to the USA for the first time and activating with the Liebherr team both in-market and globally through our media, social, and digital reach."

Andreas Böhm, managing director of Liebherr-International AG, added: "We are delighted to be involved in sponsoring the World Table Tennis Championships Finals in Houston.

"The USA is an important market for Liebherr, and we look forward to seeing the best players in the world competing at the top level again as well as showcasing our brand and products through on-site and digital activations with the ITTF Group and event organisers."

The ITTF is to host its Annual General Meeting and Presidential election during the World Championships.
