World Karate Federation (WKF) President Antonio Espinós believes the progress of the sport's European governing body is "unparalleled".

As well as leading the global body, Espinós is also the President of the European Karate Federation (EKF).

He welcomed Davor Cipek, the EKF secretary general, to the WKF headquarters in Madrid to discuss the state of karate on the continent.

"The progress of the EKF over the years has been unparalleled, as it was attested at the last big events in the continent, especially the last edition of the EKF Senior Championships which were held in Croatia with Mr Cipek at the helm," said Espinós.

"I am convinced that the EKF, with Mr Cipek as the EKF's secretary general, will register a great development and will reach even greater heights."
