The Russian Gymnastics Federation (RGF) won gold in the group all-around final at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Kitakyushu in Japan after topping the scoring tables for both the balls and hoops and clubs events.

Anastasia Bliznyuk, Polina Orlova, Angelina Shkatova, Alisa Tishchenko and Maria Tolkachyova combined for the RGF to score 88.350 overall.

They were obviously confident in their ability as they chose the highest difficulty routines in both divisions.

Italy recovered from a below-par showing in the balls to place second in the clubs, which secured a silver medal on 86.000 points.

Belarus rounded out the podium to claim bronze on 85.400 points after consistent performances across both disciplines.

The RGF team were clearly the best outfit throughout the whole day's action as the quintet topped both tables in the qualification stages.

The victory marks the fourth of a possible five gold medals won by RGF gymnasts.

Dina Averina has claimed a remarkable golden hat-trick with wins in the individual clubs, balls and hoop competitions.

Belarusian Alina Harnasko was the only one able to prevent an RGF clean sweep.

The Belarusian scored 23.950 in the individual ribbon final to stop Averina winning a fourth gold medal as she posted a score of 23.900.

Competition continues tomorrow in Kitakyushu with the individual all-around final.

Averina will commence proceedings in Group A and is the clear favourite to win the RGF's fifth gold medal of the World Championships.
