The International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced Tekken 7 as the last official game title for this year’s World Championship in Eilat in Israel.

Tekken, which means "Iron Fist" in Japanese, is set to feature at the IESF’s flagship international tournament for the eighth time since it was first included in 2012.

The popular fighting video and arcade game was developed by Japanese company Bandai Namco Studios and was first released in 1994.

In March, the IESF confirmed Audition, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and eFootball PES 2021 as official game titles for the World Championship.

The IESF said all Tekken 7 competitors would be selected by its member National Federations.

Eilat was chosen as the host city of the IESF’s 13th World Championship following the cancellation of the global finals event in 2020, which it was due to host.

The format of the competition is expected to be similar to last year’s event with the World Championship’s Regional Games held online before the best players and teams participate in the offline global finals in Eilat.

A total of 80 countries are set to compete at this year’s tournament, the IESF says.
