The International Esports Federation (IESF) has announced its schedule of events for 2021, including the inaugural World Super League (WSL).

The IESF hopes this year’s tournaments will "unify and enhance the global esports ecosystem".

Game titles for the 2021 Esports World Championship are set to be announced next month with regional matches scheduled to held from September to October, followed by the global finals in November.

Eilat has been selected to stage the 2021 finals.

The Israeli city had been due to host the in-person finals of the 2020 edition only for the IESF Esports World Championship to be concluded after the regional online stage because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Regionals esports events are also scheduled to take place along with the newly-launched WSL, which the IESF hopes will become "one of the biggest tournaments in the world".

National and regional games will be followed by the global finals, which are set to be held in December.

One of the reasons for starting WSL is to form closer links with national leagues, according to the IESF.

Alongside the competitive events, the sixth edition of the Global Esports Executive Summit is expected to take place from August 29 to September 1.

To support the development of esports, the IESF plans to launch its international research and development programmes this year in a bid to "strengthen the ecosystem and ensure sustainable growth".
