Kris Canales has announced his intention to run for a second term as President of the French Sambo Committee.

Canales has been at the helm of the organisation, which is affiliated with the French Wrestling Federation, since 2017.

As reported by SportMag, he revealed he would seek to renew his candidacy on the Board of Directors, before running for a second term as President.

"Over the past four years, we have set up large-scale projects in order to develop our activity, modernise our operations, perform and shine internationally," he said.

"The progress that we are making in the objectives that we have set ourselves are sometimes mistakenly obscured by our impatience to always want to do more for our discipline.

"In order to maintain the momentum and ensure the continuity of the action, if I am elected to the Board of Directors, I will propose my candidacy for the Presidency of the French Sambo Committee for a second term."

Canales also pledged to "do everything possible to continue the development" of sambo in France.

"I do not lose sight of my objective," he added.

France have enjoyed recent success in sambo, with Laure Fournier earning a world title in the women's 56 kilogram division in 2018.

She failed to defend her title last year, but still finished with a silver medal.

Fournier is also chair of the International Sambo Federation Athlete Committee.
