The advantage was doubled nearly 10 minutes later when Manuel Rosas deflected an effort from Derrick Etienne into his own net.

Nicaragua attempted to find a response in the second half, but Haiti held on for a 2-0 victory.

Haiti’s place in the knockout stage was then confirmed, with Costa Rica joining them on six points by beating tournament debutants Bermuda.

Mayron George gave Costa Rica a first-half lead, with Elias Aguilar doubling the advantage shortly after halftime.

Bermuda threatened an unlikely fightback after being awarded a 59th-minute penalty, which was despatched by Nahki Wells.

Their efforts to find an equaliser proved fruitless, with Costa Rica’s 2-1 win guaranteeing them a place in the next round.

Costa Rica and Haiti will meet to decide the group winners on June 24, while Bermuda and Nicaragua will hope to end their participation on a high.
