Tsz Fung Yip of Hong Kong has set up a tie with defending champion Mohamed Elshorbagy of Egypt after winning in the opening round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Qatar Classic in Doha. 

Tze beat Syed Azlan Amjad of Qatar 11-4, 11-7, 11-7 to set up a match against Elshorbagy who received a bye into the second round. 

Fifteen other round one matches also took place at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

Closely fought contests included Tom Richards of England beating Mohamed Reda of Egypt 9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, Cesar Salazar of Mexico winning against Peter Creed of Wales 7-11, 11-5, 5-11, 12-10, 11-8 and Spain's Borja Golan triumphing over England's Nathan Lake 10-12, 11-2, 11-9, 9-11, 11-4 .

The longest match of the day lasted 82 minutes when Greg Lobban of Scotland eventually beat Malaysia's Nafiizwan Adnan 5-11, 11-7, 9-11, 13-11, 11-5.

Qatar's number one Abdulla Al Tamimi lost to Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia 11-3, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5.

Tomorrow will see the introduction of the top seeds into the World Series competition.

Seed number two, Ali Farag of Egypt, will play compatriot Mohamed Abouelghar, while another Egyptian Tarek Momen, seed number three, will face Nicolas Mueller of Switzerland.
