Karen Quezada clinched the gold medal in the women's 10 metres air pistol with a Games record score as Mexico continued their domination of the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla.

Quezada recorded a total of 239.2 points to lead a Mexican one-two as Alejandra Zavala took silver, 2.7 adrift of her team-mate.

The bronze medal was claimed by Guatemala's Kimberly Linares, who scored 217.1 points.

There was further Mexican success in the shooting events today as the country clinched gold and silver in the women's trap final.

Alejandra Ramirez topped the podium with a score of 31 hits, three in front of compatriot Cinthya Clemenz.

Guatemala's Adriana Ruano was the recipient of the bronze medal having scored 20 hits.

Ruano's team-mate Jean Brol secured the men's trap title on 39 hits, beating nearest competitor and eventual silver medallist Eduardo Lorenzo of the Dominican Republic by one.

Fernando Brol, also of Guatemala, earned the bronze medal on 30 hits.

In the karate events, Venezuela enjoyed a successful day as they sealed two gold medals.

Claudimar Garcés claimed the women's under 61kg crown by defeating Karina Diaz of Dominican Republic 9-5 in a high-scoring final.

Omaira Molina then added a second title for the Venezuelan team, overcoming Mexico's Guadalupe Quintal 3-1.

Domincian Republic's Anel Castillo triumphed in the men's over 84 kilograms kumite karate event with a comfortable 9-4 win over Colombian Diego Lenis.

Mexico now have a total of 198 medals, 80 of which are gold, as they continue to lead the way in the medal table.

Hosts Colombia are second, with 45 golds in an overall haul of 140, while Cuba occupy third place with 111 medals, including 35 golds.
