He won his first three matches of the tournament in straight games to set up a clash with Mexico's Cesar Salazar Martinez in the gold medal match.

Rodriquez lost his first game of the competition during the match, but ultimately emerged as an 11-4, 7-11, 11-6, 11-7 winner.

An all Mexican women's final proved a tightly fought affair, with Samantha Teran ultimately winning 10-12, 11-3, 11-4, 10-12, 11-4 against Diana Garcia Fierro.

Two golds were also won at the Velódromo Alcides Nieto Patiño, with Trinidad and Tobago winning the men's team sprint title.

They were followed by teams from Venezuela and Colombia.

Cuba also enjoyed cycling success as Marlies Mejias won the women’s scratch race gold, with Mexico’s Lizbeth Salazar and Trinidad and Tobago’s Teneil Campbell rounding off the podium.

Hosts Colombia continued their domination of the roller speed skating events, as they secured all four gold medals on offer today.

Alex Cujavante won the men’s 10,000 metres points race for his second gold medal of the Games, while Johana Viveros Mondragon doubled her tally by winning the women’s event.

Edwin Estrada Vallecilla and Kerstinck Sarmiento Anchilla would emerge as the winners of the men’s and women’s 500m events.

Mexico currently top the overall medals table at the Games on 32 golds, with hosts Colombia and Cuba following on 27 and 18 respectively.

The Games are due to run until August 3, with a total of 470 events due to take place across the duration of the multi-sport event.
