The Czech Republic enjoyed a dominant end to the European Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships with a fourth gold medal in Budapest.

The Czech team of Martina Tichovska, Vojtech Ludvik and Krystof Bogar earned a thrilling relay victory over Russia to conclude the event in the Hungarian capital in style.

Their time of 2 hours 20min 6sec was just four seconds in front of the Russian trio of Olga Shipilova, Valeriy Gluhov and Anton Foliforov, who were forced to settle for the silver medal.

Bronze was secured by Finland's second team of Marika Hara, Andre Haga and Kare Kaskinen, who clocked 2:28:27.

The victory for the Czech team saw all three riders claim their second gold medal of the Championships.

Tichovska and Vojtech Ludvik triumphed in the women's and men's long distance events respectively, while Bogar won the middle distance title.

The event also doubled as the the first leg of the World Cup season.
