India booked their place in the final of the International Cricket Council Under-19 World Cup as they thrashed Pakistan by 203 runs in Christchurch.

Having posted a commanding total of 272-9 from their 50 overs, India skittled a woeful Pakistan out for just 69 to clinch a huge victory at the Hagley Oval.

India will meet Australia, who beat Afghanistan yesterday, in the final at the Bay Oval In Tauranga on Saturday (February 3).

The Indian innings was anchored by a brilliant unbeaten 102 from Shubman Gill, who played with poise and power throughout his time at the crease.

Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra had earlier laid the platform for the Indian side as they put on 89 for the first wicket.

Shaw was eventually out for 41, while Kalra fell three runs short of a half-century.

Shaw's dismissal had brought Gill to the middle and he took full advantage of some average bowling and poor fielding to reach his 102 from 94 balls.

Pakistan did mount a comeback as Muhammad Musa, who took 4-67, and Arshad Iqbal tore through the middle order to give their team a glimmer of hope.

Facing an arduous run chase, the Pakistan batsmen put in an abject performance as they slumped to 20-3.

Ishan Porel did the damage as he removed Zaid Alam, Imran Shah and Ali Zaryab for single-figure scores in consecutive overs.

India sensed an opportunity and they duly took it, bowling Pakistan out for their lowest-ever Under-19 World Cup total.

England beat hosts New Zealand by 32 runs at the John Davies Oval in Queenstown to finish seventh.
