Angola secured the last available place in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship as they drew 0-0 with Congo in Morocco.

Angola knew a win would seal their progress to the last eight but a point proved enough to send them through along with Congo.

The two sides played out a drab goalless draw at the Stade Adrar in Agadir but the result benefited both sides as Congo topped the group and Angola finished second.

Burkina Faso's slim chances of qualification were dashed as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cameroon in the other match at the Stade Ibn Batouta in Tangier.

Congo will face Libya in the quarter-finals, while Angola will take on Nigeria.

Both games are scheduled to take place on Sunday (January 28).

Hosts Morocco play Namibia and Zambia go up against Sudan in the other two last eight encounters on Saturday (January 27).

Burkina Faso had given themselves every chance of squeezing through to the next round when Mohamed Sylla put them ahead two minutes before half time.

Their lead did not last long, however, as Patrick Moussombo restored parity early in the second half.

Burkina Faso then pressed forward in search of a winning goal but it proved elusive, which confirmed their exit from the group stage of the competition for home-based African players.
